AVMA: Agencies protecting public health should be spared deep budget cuts

In a letter to the government's supercommittee on Oct. 13, AVMA CEO Dr. Ron DeHaven wrote that agencies such as the USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service should be spared deep budget cuts. Dr. DeHaven points out such agencies' programs are vital to safeguarding national security, food safety and public and animal health.
