School uses social media to cover budget shortfall

After receiving $40,000 less than expected from the state, a San Francisco elementary school used the social media website Gofundme.com to fill the shortfall online. So far, the school has raised $34,179 on the site. "A social media fundraising site like Gofundme.com it can be linked up with other social media like Facebook and word about it can get around in different ways and we can have opportunities for people who are less connected with the school to help us in our efforts as well," principal John Simard said.
