Study: Minocycline worsens symptoms for ALS patients

Scientists who conducted a Phase III trial on the antibiotic minocycline found that the drug was harmful to patients with Lou Gehrig's disease. In a study of 412 people, ALS patients who took minocycline deteriorated 25% faster than those who took a placebo. Minocycline is also being tested as a treatment for Huntington's disease, stroke, dementia and multiple sclerosis.
