EIA report: U.S. produced slightly less ethanol in August

Daily production of ethanol in the U.S. stood at more than 727,000 barrels in August, dipping from 728,000 bpd in July, according to a report by the Energy Information Administration. The volume of ethanol blended into gasoline also dropped, from 673,000 bpd in June to more than 672,000 bpd in August, the EIA added. The agency noted that U.S. producers have been posting better profit margins recently as Brazil diverts more sugar cane to sugar production amid high prices for the commodity, reducing the country's ethanol exports.
