Activists turn up heat on Texas town's shelter

A group of activists in Garland, Texas, has ramped up efforts to convince the city's animal shelter to dismantle its gas chamber, holding public demonstrations and a Facebook campaign. The city uses a euthanasia process that is approved by AVMA, and has responded to the activists by changing its policy to state that the chamber would only be used on vicious, feral and wild animals that would pose a significant danger to staffers trying to administer a lethal injection.
