API-established center picks Shell scientist to lead governing board

The Center for Offshore Safety picked Charlie Williams, Shell Oil's chief scientist of well engineering and production, to lead its governing board. The American Petroleum Institute-established center seeks to help the oil and natural gas industry spread data on strengthening offshore-drilling safety. Williams has "played a unique and important role in advancing industry solutions, and he's widely recognized for bringing a passion for excellence to every challenge," said Shell Oil President Marvin Odum.
