Painkiller overdose fatalities have tripled, CDC reports

A CDC report revealed that more than 40 people die each day due to overdoses of prescription painkillers such as Vicodin, methadone, Opana and OxyContin. Deaths from painkiller overdoses have increased threefold in a decade, due in part to the increased use of such drugs for nonmedical reasons and growing drug sales, the CDC analysis said.
