Britain's NHS taps telemedicine to cut costs, boost care levels:

Health care providers in the U.K. are increasingly turning to telepresence solutions to provide care in rural areas and help cut down on unnecessary treatment and admissions that strain the country's subsidized National Health Service. A program conducted recently by the Birmingham-based joint venture OwnHealth found that the introduction of remote telehealth monitoring to 74 patients reduced hospital admissions from 174 to 24, while cutting the cost of overall care nearly 80%.
