Verizon will publish API to "turbocharge" bandwidth for apps

Verizon Wireless hopes to provide customers next year with a chance to boost the network bandwidth their mobile applications can use in return for what the carrier describes as a small fee. The telecom said it would publish a network optimization API that would allow consumers to reach for more bandwidth in times of network traffic jams. Verizon offered the preview at an open house at its San Francisco technology center in which the carrier showcased a number of new products that it is developing in-house and with partners.
