Yahoo! launches its newsstand

Yahoo! is entering the custom newsstand market today with its Livestand application, competing with the likes of Flipboard and Zite while asking as much as $500,000 from advertisers to use the app's interactive "Living Ad" format. Yahoo! is talking up Livestand, noting the company's wide reach and saying it can tap readers of other Yahoo! sites and bring them over to the new app.
