Spokane, Wash., tunnel span to be longest in U.S.

A concrete arch tunnel a quarter-mile long that will run over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad track in Spokane, Wash., will be the longest of its kind in the U.S. The BEBO Concrete Arch System uses cast-in-place concrete footings, precast arch elements, headwalls and wingwalls. About 444 6-foot-long precast concrete segments were placed along a curve.
