Are you too efficient to be innovative?

An obsession with short-term efficiency can impede innovation, writes Dana Theus. Some inefficiency is inevitable and can even be productive in the long run, so it's important not to put efficiency above all else. "Innovation often looks highly inefficient -- until you can apply hindsight and see the benefits it did or didn't produce," Theus writes.
