Study: U.S. retirement system ranks 10th out of 16

Researchers at Mercer and the Australian Center for Financial Studies placed the overall pension system in the U.S. in the No. 10 spot out of 16 countries and offered familiar recommendations for improving the situation. The U.S. government will have to contend in the future with millions of workers who have not made contributions to retirement plans, as well as the stability of the Social Security system, which for many is the primary source of retirement income.
