Severe asthma attacks often land children in ICU, study finds

A study of 188 children hospitalized for asthma found 30% ended up in the intensive care unit and those whose attacks were triggered by allergic reactions were more likely to do so. ICU admissions were higher in August and October and children admitted to the ICU were more likely to have been sick for shorter periods of time, the researchers said.
