Adding Wi-Fi service helps cable operators retain subscribers and can improve revenue from small and medium-size businesses as well as offer a potential source for future ad sales, according to Stephen Rayment, chief technology officer for BelAir Networks. Shaw Communications and Time Warner Cable are among the operators developing Wi-Fi networks.
