Report says current RHIO strategy is not working

Establishing RHIOs throughout the U.S. and building a health network from the bottom up is not working, and there needs to be a renewed national strategy for implementing health IT, according to a report. Among the report's recommendations are passing legislation promoting EHR use, establishing health data standards, creating a legal framework for data banks, leveraging federal resources, and requiring health facilities to disclose patient information online if requested.
