"Less is more" philosophy filters down to chip design

The progression of Moore's Law still holds sway over the semiconductor industry, yet design considerations are having a greater influence these days in electronics, said John Maeda, president of the Rhode Island School of Design. "Less equals more because design balances desire for technology and utility of technology," he said at a conference in San Francisco. "Therefore, technology is now less important making design more visible and helps to balance between wanting more and less."
