Report: Utilities are offloading renewable energy assets at a faster rate

Renewable energy assets accounted for about 43% of the 275 acquisitions in the power sector from January to September, up from 37% during the same time last year, according to Ernst & Young. The trend is seen as part of the reason for declining investments in renewable energy projects, which are expected to decrease further this year. Utilities "simply don't have the capital to allocate to endless volumes of renewable energy investment," said Ben Warren of Ernst & Young.
