Vietnam officials stand by country's nuclear energy push

Several Vietnamese officials defended the country's push to develop nuclear energy. "Vietnam needs a diversified structure of energy sources, and nuclear power is the most reasonable solution," said Hoang Trung Hai, Vietnam's deputy prime minister. "Vietnam needs to build a nuclear power program to have sufficient electricity for the country, and this process will also help boost the development of human resources in other sciences which eventually support the economic development," said Tran Chi Thanh, head of the Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute.
