Drugmakers back Woodcock as FDA commissioner, sources say

Pharmaceutical firms are calling on President-elect Barack Obama to appoint Janet Woodcock, a senior FDA official, as the next commissioner of the agency, industry sources said. An FDA spokeswoman said Woodcock declined to comment, while the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America chose not to talk about possible candidates.
