FSB names 29 global banks as systemically important

The Financial Stability Board named 29 banks as global systemically important financial institutions. The banks will face higher capital requirements and tougher surveillance than their smaller rivals. "Complete and globally consistent implementation of these measures will be essential for a safer and sounder banking system and will contribute to broader financial system stability," said Stefan Ingves, chairman of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision.
