Cyber chiefs appeal for global unity on cybersecurity

Global powers must overcome issues of trust and do more to work together to confront emerging cyberthreats or else risk weakening confidence in the stability of global networks, according to experts attending the fourth annual Cyberspace Cooperation Summit this week at Stanford University. Among the proposals coming out of the summit -- which drew participants from more than 40 countries -- is the creation of a global organization for tracking and tallying cyberincidents and the development of common benchmarks for gauging the fallout from cyberattacks.
