A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee next week will review the Chemical Safety Improvement Act introduced by Sens. David Vitter, R-La., and the late Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J. The move will be the first time the House panel takes up legislation to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act. Sources say the hearing will probably happen Wednesday and officials from the American Chemistry Council, the Environmental Defense Fund, the American Cleaning Institute and the Safer Chemicals Healthy Families coalition are likely to testify.
