Fight for leadership of House panel could impact pharma ads

The direct-to-consumer drug industry could feel the impact, if U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and a proponent of limiting DTC TV ads, is successful in challenging U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., for the chairmanship of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. "If Rep. Waxman does become chair, we have to be prepared for immediate scrutiny on FDA matters," said Adonis Hoffman, general counsel of 4A's. "DTC becomes front and center."
