Education-related ballot measures had varied reactions from voters across the country in Tuesday's elections. In Idaho, voters overturned three initiatives supported by state schools chief Tom Luna to require online courses for high school students, implement merit pay for teachers and limit educators' collective-bargaining rights. A charter school initiative was approved in Georgia, while another remained uncertain Wednesday in Washington state. Other measures designed to generate funding for public education through tax increases were approved in California and Oregon but rejected in Arizona, Missouri and South Dakota, results showed.
