Anonymous transaction location data are being used by Australian supermarket Coles to help the company find idea sites for its new stores. The data the company collects also help it know what items will sell best in each new location. "For example, in Western Australia we are adding more products that are manufactured in [Western Australia] to stores. This resonates very well with customers and results in bigger baskets across the rest of the store," Coles' Richard Wormald said.
