Georgia legislator seeks to strengthen animal-cruelty law

Georgia Sen. Robert Brown, D-Macon, is considering amending the Animal Cruelty Act to provide law enforcement officials with better tools to prosecute animal abusers in the state. "Animal abuse is often an indicative trait of future acts of violence against humans, and prosecuting such behavior is our first line of defense against potentially dangerous criminals," he said.
