AT&T to embrace "Internet Everywhere" with $14B investment

AT&T says it will pump an additional $14 billion into its Long-Term Evolution program as it seeks to expand the reach of IP-based networks by bolstering infrastructure and broadening spectrum holdings. The three-year plan -- which represents a 16% increase in capital spending -- will bring LTE to an additional 300 million people, the company said. "This is a major commitment to invest in 21st Century communications infrastructure for the United States and bring high-speed Internet connectivity," CEO Randall Stephenson said in a statement.
