Building retrofits generate energy savings, study shows

Energy upgrades on existing buildings produce realistic savings, according to a study commissioned by the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation and the nonprofit partnership, Living Cities. The research looked at 19,000 affordable housing units that underwent energy retrofits in New York City, and found that the undertaking produced 19% savings on fuel costs and 10% on electricity across the portfolio. The study also crafted a tool that will enable lenders to verify the results of energy audits.
