DISH is said to explore Web-based pay-TV service

DISH Network has engaged in exploratory talks with media companies about launching an Internet-only pay-TV service that the satellite provider would program by licensing their TV networks, according to a published report. DISH Chairman Charlie Ergen reportedly proposed the idea in hopes of keeping a lid on programming costs by excluding pricey channels, such as sports networks, from the most basic levels of service.
