USDA agency issues projections on RIN market

The Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service has issued a report showing how the market for renewable identification numbers works. Understanding how the RIN market works can lead to insights about the Renewable Fuel Standard and feedstock supplies, the report said. The agency predicted that corn ethanol RIN prices would remain low through 2012 as consumption outpaces the targets under RFS2, but RIN prices will likely rise through 2019 as consumption falls behind the RFS2 targets.
