Study ties excess sitting to pericardial fat buildup

Researchers looked at CT scan data on 504 older Americans and found that prolonged sitting was significantly linked to buildup of pericardial fat around the heart, even among those who exercise regularly. The more time a person spends sitting, the bigger the area of fat deposited around the heart. The study was presented at an American Heart Association meeting.
