Spill panel calls for establishment of new drilling-safety body

An industry-funded entity must be established to help the Department of the Interior ensure safety in offshore drilling, said William Reilly, a co-chairman of the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling. Oil and natural gas companies must support "some kind of institution that defines best practices and supplements the regulators in ensuring that best practices are, in fact, observed," Reilly added.
