Modest weight loss leads to better myocardial health in diabetes

Researchers at the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada, found that modest weight loss helped improve dietary fat uptake and reduce dietary fat buildup in the myocardium of patients with impaired glucose tolerance. The results, presented at the Canadian Diabetes Association/Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism meeting, suggest that myocardial contractile dysfunction before the onset of diabetes in patients, a researcher said.
