Air Force General: Missile defense could backfire by increasing threat

The U.S. will need to use caution as it boosts its missile defense to avoid further threats from countries such as North Korea, warned Air Force Gen. Kevin Chilton, commander of the U.S. Strategic Command, this week. Chilton said missile defense can be destabilizing, and he said that lining the West Coast of the U.S. could backfire by prompting China to build up its nuclear forces.
