PayPal's promotion strategy pays off, comScore says

In the fourth quarter of 2008, PayPal launched promotions, including discounts, which prompted more consumers to use the online payment method when they made purchases at Overstock.com, Walmart.com and other major retailer sites, according to comScore. "PayPal's aggressive promotion strategy during the 2008 holiday season helped the popular online payment method carve out a significantly higher share of wallet at several major retailer sites," said Matt Archer, senior manager of financial services at comScore.
