Heroic effort brings the vote to storm's first responders

When Virginia Beach, Va., Deputy Fire Chief T.J. McAndrews realized 85 local first responders who traveled to New Jersey to help victims of Superstorm Sandy wouldn't be back in time to cast their vote in the election, he mobilized a massive effort that brought the ballots to the crew members and back. "We were all really eager to make sure we did it and did it right," York County registrar Walt Latham said. "And that we got to make sure that these people, who were helping our fellow Americans, would be able to vote, even in the event of a natural disaster."
