Railroads eye infrastructure investment for more efficiency, safety

Canadian National, CSX, Kansas City Southern, Norfolk Southern, Alaska Railroad and Amtrak are among railroads upgrading rail infrastructure to improve operations, safety and other "special purposes," writes Julie Sneider. For instance, the Class I's, ARRC and Amtrak's bridge enhancement projects aim to achieve several goals, including faster train speeds and savings in cost and time.
