ViaSat beats forecasts, sees "steady progress" on Exede

ViaSat netted 24,000 customers for its Exede broadband satellite service in the company's second quarter in what CEO Mark Dankberg described as "steady progress" for the service, which now has 429,000 subscribers. The company's revenues exceeded analysts' predictions, propelled partly by sales from government contracts, although the cost of subsidizing consumer satellite gear contributed to its overall loss.
