Social-networking features to power Yahoo!, Google e-mail

Both Google and Yahoo! reportedly are planning to add social-networking features to their e-mail systems, to better compete with newer rivals MySpace and Facebook. Yahoo!'s "Inbox 2.0" is likely to be able to sort mail based on the recipient's closeness to the sender and link to a profile page resembling the news feed on Facebook, according to this blog posting, which did not provide details on Google's plan.
