Calif. efforts on chemical regulations could have sweeping effects

California is considering chemical-products regulations that would quadruple the number of chemicals considered potentially dangerous and increase pressure on companies to find alternatives. Companies globally could shape product lines to conform to tougher California regulations, say experts. "This is revolutionary stuff. This is a real sea change in chemical policy," environmental law professor Tim Malloy said.
