Cord blood storage is gaining popularity in the U.K.

British experts estimate that there are now about 10 private businesses in the U.K. that offer cord blood cell storage services. They also estimate that as many as 100,000 parents have now opted to store their children's umbilical cord blood stem cells. A number of health experts, however, urge parents to consider public cord blood banking, since, according to them, there is little evidence that cells stored privately will ever be used.
