Group: Pa. coal-fired plants' mercury emissions are No. 3 in the U.S.

Mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants in Pennsylvania are the third-highest in the nation, environmental group PennEnvironment said. The group is supporting new rules from the Environmental Protection Agency to cap the release of mercury and other emissions. Last year, almost 4,000 pounds of mercury was released into the air by the state's power plants, according to the group's recent report, which is a compilation of EPA data.
