Inergy addresses "misinformation" about planned LPG storage in N.Y.

Inergy Midstream's proposed LPG storage project in Reading, N.Y., will only be 1.8 times as large as TEPPCO's existing LPG storage facility in the town, and not 74 times larger as opponents claim, writes Inergy Services President Bill Gautreaux. "TEPPCO actually stored more than 3 million barrels in the salt cavern from 1964 to 1984 before constructing its current 1.2 million barrel facility. So Inergy's facility will actually be smaller than TEPPCO's original salt cavern facility," writes Gautreaux. He added that the "project has nothing to do with hydraulic fracturing in New York, as the natural gas in New York is dry gas that will not be processed to obtain propane and butane."
