Klout faces criticism for harvesting Facebook data

Klout is under fire for automatically generating profiles and influence ratings for its users' Facebook contacts, including their underage children and other family members, without the permission or involvement of the contacts themselves. Klout says it has halted the practice, but Facebook is investigating a potential breach of its terms and services. "People need to be aware -- if you're active on social networks, you're bringing your social graph with you, and that includes your friends and family," says blogger Tonia Ries, whose young son was automatically given a Klout score.
