Survey: Pet spending to reach $50 billion

According to the 2011 APPA ownership survey, Americans will spend about $50 billion on pets this year, $2 billion more than in 2010. Pet owners are increasing spending by choosing gourmet pet foods, opting for spa treatments such as special shampoos or nail polish at the groomer, and paying for pet massages and other services.
