Study: Meditation reduces risk of cardiac-related death

Transcendental meditation helped reduce the risk of death, heart attack and stroke among black patients with heart disease, according to a study in the journal Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes. Iowa researchers found meditation reduced the risk of death and hospitalization for cardiac events when compared with patients who got only cardiovascular health education. The study found patients who meditated also saw a reduction in blood pressure.
