Veterans COLA bill clears Senate

The Senate on Tuesday passed a bill that would provide a 1.7% cost-of-living increase in benefits for disabled veterans and survivors. The Senate had failed to pass the bill in September, sparking worries that the COLA adjustment wouldn't pass in time for the increase to appear in January checks. The bill now awaits the signature of President Barack Obama.
