Apple picks Disney's Iger for board, aims for media focus

Apple has appointed Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger to its board of directors to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Steve Jobs. Industry observers see the move as a means to help the company's media presence as it looks to take on Amazon and Google for next-generation television supremacy. "Apple is going to get more into content distribution over time on the video side. That's where it makes sense for someone like Bob Iger from Disney to have that relationship with Apple," said Michael Corty, a Morningstar analyst.
