Obese pets are becoming an epidemic

According to a study by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, more than half of American pet dogs and cats are overweight or obese. Attention to diet is important, according to University of Illinois veterinarian Thomas Graves, who notes that dogs usually gain weight because of table scraps. Cats, on the other hand, typically gain weight from consuming too many carbohydrates.
